What should I bring on the day of Fresher Fest?

Bring your student matriculation card, a valid photo ID, and a copy of your registration confirmation (digital or printed). We also recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes, as there will be plenty of activities, campus tours, and booths to explore throughout the day!

Is registration mandatory for all incoming freshers?

Yes, all incoming SMU freshers are required to register for Fresher Fest as it forms part of your official orientation programme. Registration ensures we can prepare your welcome pack, assign you to the right activity groups, and keep you updated on the day's schedule.

Can my parents or family members attend with me?

Absolutely! Families are warmly welcome to join us for the opening ceremony and the campus tour segment. We'll also have a dedicated Parents' Lounge with refreshments and information sessions on student support services, so your loved ones can feel just as at home at SMU as you do.

Will food and drinks be provided during the event?

Yes! Lunch and light refreshments will be provided for all registered freshers throughout the day. We cater to a variety of dietary requirements including halal, vegetarian, and vegan options — just indicate your preferences during registration so we can make sure everyone is well taken care of.

What if I miss a session or arrive late?

Don't worry — you can still join most sessions even if you arrive a little late. Key presentations and workshops will be recorded and made available on the student portal within 48 hours. If you anticipate missing a significant portion of the day, please email the Fresher Fest team in advance and we'll do our best to help you catch up.

How do I sign up for CCAs after the event?

Fresher Fest features a dedicated CCA Fair where over 80 student clubs and societies will have booths for you to explore and sign up on the spot. If you'd like more time to decide, CCA sign-ups remain open on the SMU Student Life portal for the first two weeks of the semester — so there's no pressure to commit on the day itself.
